Chilhowie 2023

Today’s post is about my own version of the Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt, Chilhowie 2023. I was not prepared for the fast pace of this project but kept pushing through. I was delighted with the result.

I kept my quilt simple and only did what the pattern suggested, no more and no less. As this was my first time with this yearly project, I felt less would be more.

E2E Quilting

When choosing E2E patterns for my own quilts, I tend to try new designs instead of continuing to use the same ones. This gives me an opportunity to see how they stitch out. For this project I picked Patina. The motion and curves of this design are really a nice compliment.

The close-up images below show how pretty this pattern is on this quilt.

Quilt Back, Binding and Label

In the spirit of a quit named after flowers, I chose a pretty green fabric for the backing. I did the binding in a purple found in the quilt top. I love the effect.

Of course, no quilt is complete without a label. This time I chose to embroider the label on the backing fabric.

I highly recommend doing one of these at least once. You learn new skills and there is a feeling of accomplishment.
