I almost thought this quilt was a mixture of vintage and new, but I was wrong. The fabrics are so unique and varied that it was deceptive. Black and Scrap Quilt is like a big person’s version of Eye Spy!

This is another beauty by my friend Debbie Emerson. I love how she used a mixture of black starry fabrics for sashing and borders and then purplish grunge. I am looking at one of the photos as I type this. I have the feeling of looking out a paned window at a technicolor snowfall.
Black and Scrap Quilt Back
The back is the same black fabric from the front, and as you can see, the quilting provides a lot of texture.

Edge to Edge – Double Dutch
Speaking of the edge to edge pattern, this black and scrap quilt has so many squares and triangles. For this reason, I thought swirls would work well to soften the look.

This quilt has lots of small, scrappy elements. The density of the quilting helps to secure the top.
